VLP Travels To St. Augustine For The Annual Arc Of Florida Conference

Excited to learn new things and have a ton of fun with countless laugh out loud moments, the VLP family traveled to historic St. Augustine on October 18, 2017 for the 2017 Arc of Florida conference. The three-day conference, themed “Passport to Adventure,” was jam-packed with incredible opportunities for both our clients and staff to expand their skill sets and work together as a team.

From personal safety classes led by the St. John’s police and fire departments to yoga, dream inspired training classes and more, there was something for everyone. Our staff also received training from APD (Agency for Persons with Disabilities) on range of topics to ensure the VLP team is prepared for the future needs of our VLP clients.

Of course, the conference wasn’t all work, the VLP team came together to participate in the talent show and won second place! Performing a parody of the Ghostbusters theme song the VLP team conveyed the how they work together to achieve the VLP mission and help individuals with disabilities live, work and play more independently. The performance was a smashing success with both the crowd and the judges and the team won second place! The conference concluded with a Halloween party and a visit to “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” wax museum.

“Attending the annual Arc of Florida conference is something we look forward every year,” said Bobbi Wigand, Executive Director. “Special thanks to the AngeLs for Victory for helping to raise funds to transport us to the conference and to the staff and volunteers who traveled with us on this unforgettable adventure.”
