Perhaps there is nothing more exciting than the thrill of winning the silver medal at the Special Olympics USA games. But for Victory Living Programs’ client of the month Bobby Mock, who participates in Victory Living Programs’ Social and Recreational Program, it was truly all about “the experience.”

When asked what Bobby loved most about being a member of the Victory Aces Volleyball team, that recently won the silver medal at the Special Olympics USA Games in June in Princeton, NJ, he immediately began reliving the experience.

“I loved meeting people from all over the country, the ferry trip to see the Statue of Liberty, seeing the Empire State Building and Ground Zero, and EVEN the lasagna at the airport!” said Bobby.

When asked about Bobby’s performance, head coach and Executive Director of Victory Living Programs Bobbi Wigand said, ”Bobby showed great sportsmanship, as he always does, encouraging his teammates with praise and support. He participated in everything he possibly could and watched as many games as possible, cheering all the athletes on. Bobby is a great all-around athlete. He also plays on our bowling, softball and basketball teams. He is known for his accuracy in his volleyball serves, spot-on outside basketball shots and throws from 3rd base. He averages a 130 in bowling and consistently bats doubles and triples in softball. ”

Bobby concluded his interview stating that his favorite part, were the competitions. In the spirit of a true athlete, he was thrilled that “they were all close games.”

In recognition of his athletic prowess and the amazing way he represents the true spirit of both Special Olympics and Victory Living Programs,  Bobby has been nominated as Athlete of the Year for Broward County for 2014.
