Annual Conference Date Announced

Florida’s Voice on Developmental Disabilities (FVDD), a statewide 501(c)(3) non- profit, announces its annual conference titled “Ain’t Misbehavin: Coping with Behavioral Problems for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.” The all-day conference will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Broward Health North Hospital’s auditorium.

The morning session will consist of sessions conducted by Allan Ribbler, Ph.D., a neuropsychologist, followed by Manal Durgin, M.D., a pediatric psychiatrist and medical director of Devereux Foundation Florida. Closing the morning session will be Renee Miller, M.S. BCBA, clinical director of Reveresco ABA Therapy in Pompano Beach, who will do an overview of applied behavior analysis.

Following lunch (which is included in the registration fee), there will be three panel discussions. Panel #1 will consist of Louis Ruccolo of Broward Schools’ ESE Transition Services. Ana Gomez of Palm Beach County Schools’  and Eva-Lyn Facey, of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. The panelists will focus on transition issues for persons under the age of 22.

Panel #2 will focus on resources for persons over age 22. Panelists will include Laura Schultze (Palm Beach County School’s ESE Transition Specialist), Venesa Balis (board certified behavior analyst at the Ann Storck Center), and Gerry Driscoll, S.E. Regional Director of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

Panel #3 is titled “If All Else Fails: Crisis Management” and will include Teresa Becerra, Executive Director of the Autism Society of Florida, and Broward County Court Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren.
